Turtle Camp Akumal, México is just for you!
Akumal is located one hour south of the Cancun International Airport on the Caribbean Coast line of the Yucatan Peninsula, now known as the Riviera Maya. Akumal is a small community with white sandy beaches, sun, surf and swaying palm trees.
Akumal is known as ‘the place of the turtles' and home to S.A.V.E, Society of Akumal's Vital Ecology, a non-profit organization (NGO) protecting ecology in the community.
SAVE is host to ‘Turtle Camp 2006' located at Villas De Rosa Hotel/ Dive Center Aventuras Akumal
Additional Open Water Reef Dives, Cavern/Cave Dives and instruction Available at in house Dive Center AQUATECH.
Camp Structure
Each day begins with a buffet breakfast at Villas DeRosa Resort
Turtle Appreciation (approximately 2 hours everyday). 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Our Biologists will explain Basic Turtle Identification, Turtle conservation, Turtle Hatchery Management, and Tagging Programs.
Daily Activities (half day trips) Snorkeling and Underwater Photography, Mayan Ruins, Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Cenotes, Boat trips, Cable Slide, and more…
Night Watch (groups change shifts) observing mother turtles laying eggs on the Aventuras Akumal stretch of beach in front of your room.
